11 Feb Clinton Mielke
Dr. Mielke, published in his linkedin an article “Could a Common Chemical in Plastic Cause Diabetes?”, about the genetics of type 2 diabetes and what BPA (a molecule used to make plastics) may have to do with diabetes.
This molecule binds to estrogenic receptors at the molecular level. At the body level, exposure to rats has been shown to cause insulin resistance and BPA appears more frequently in the urine of diabetics.
Dr. Mielke is a Senior Data Scientist at UCSF Medical Center. Dr. Mielke current research interests include the genetic basis of obesity (specifically in genes that regulate overall metabolism), eating behaviour, and sleep.
